Eating Like a Big Boy!

Family Weekend

Since it is the next to last weekend of the legislative session, Darrell worked all day on Saturday and will have to work all day tomorrow as well. I took off work on Friday and Mom, Reagan, and I headed up to the Dallas area to see my Great Aunt and Uncle and a bunch of cousins. We weren't really planning on leaving very early on Friday, but Reagan was wide awake about 4:45 am, so I got up and got ready and went and picked Mom up and we headed out of town. We got up to Dallas at 10 am. Reagan was great on the trip. He slept the first two hours of the ride and the second couple of hours, I sat in the back seat with him and he just talked and played with me. He played in the floor for a long time and then he started getting really tired. I thought for sure that he would take a nap, but apparently, he was too excited to be in a new place to take a nap. He finally slept about 45 minutes. Luckily, he was so tired that he slept all night on Friday. He fell asleep about 10 and woke up about 6:20 Saturday morning. He's just so sweet when we wakes up. He is always so happy and just makes the sweetest little noises and smiles and laughs. Saturday, I saw several of my cousins and Reagan was just passes around to everyone. He never fussed or cried and even smiled at everyone that held him. My 82 year old uncle asked me if he ever cried. We had such a good time with everyone and it is so good to see them.

Last time we went to see the family, Reagan was 4 weeks old. Here are pictures of my cousin Madison from our last visit and then one from this visit. He's getting so big!

On the way home, we stopped in Troy and saw my friend Colleen's parents. Here's a picture of Paula Q. with their dog McAdoo and Reagan.

When we went took Reagan to his 4 month check up, she said that he is holding up his head so well and that we can start to feed him with a spoon. So, we did just that this evening. He did great and loved it!!

Reagan's 4 Month Check Up

Monday was Reagan's 4 month check up. He is now 24 inches long, weighs 13 pounds, 12 ounces, and has a head circumference of 42 centimeters. When he was born, he was 6 pounds, 13 ounces, was 19 inches long and had a head circumference of 35 centimeters. He is a little small for his age. For height, he is in the 10-25 percentile, for weight and head circumference he is 25-50 percentile. The doctor said that he is holding his head up very well and that he is very alert. He smiled and cooed to the doctor and when she put her stethoscope on his chest, he picked it up and handed it back to her.

When Reagan was born, the pediatrician at the hospital would not circumcise him because she said that he has hypospadias. This basically means that the hole in his boy part is a little bit longer than it should be. Our pediatrician referred us to a children's urologist, whom we have already had one appointment with. They want to schedule a surgery to fix it once he is about 6 months old. Darrell did alot of research on it and apparently 1 in 200 baby boys are born with this. The urologist said that he performs about 70 of these surgeries a year and that it is becoming alot more common. Reagan is fine and perfectly healthy, but the pediatrician said that not fixing this early would result in problems when we get ready to potty train. Here's a link with more information on hypospadias from the Mayo Clinic.http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/hypospadias/DS00884
We have a pretty good night time routine down for Reagan. His bath is about 8:15, we will feed him and he will take a little snooze on the couch. About 9, we go upstairs to bed. I will cuddle with Reagan and he cuddles with his giraffe. About 9:30, he gets swaddled in his super awesome swaddle blanket and then he will go to sleep and Darrell will take him to his crib. Here are some pictures of the sweet little guy snuggling with his giraffe.

I am so excited for the upcoming long weekend. Darrell is working most of the weekend because it is the last weekend of the legislative session and there's a good chance that Darrell will have some long days/turning into nights this weekend. I am off on Monday for the Memorial Day holiday and I went ahead and took Friday off too. Mom, Reagan, and I are going up to the Dallas area to see our family. The last time we were up there, Reagan was only 4 months old. The family can hardly wait to see him again!
It will be one year ago tomorrow that I took the pregnancy test and we found out we found out the baby was on the way! What a year it has been!!

Reagan is 4 Months Old Today!!

Our sweet little boy is 4 months old! It's so hard to believe that it has been that long already. Last night, I took Reagan to hang out with my friends Rachel and Nhu. He had so much fun and smiled and laughed with the girls. He was soooo tired, but there was no way he was going to go to sleep and risk missing out on the action. Nhu made us some super awesome pizza and gelato with brownies for dessert. Yum!

Mother's Day!

It's been a great day. I went to breakfast with mom this morning at Torchy's Tacos and we did a little shopping.

Then Darrell, Reagan, and I went later this afternoon to Eastside Pies and had some awesome pizza.

On our way back home, we stopped at a place over on 1st St. and got some cake balls. I had read an article on these tasty treats in Austin 360 and they were just as good as they said they would be.

My Mother's Day Gift was a beautful mystic topaz neckalace, ring, and earring set. Here's the picture of Reagan and Darrell giving my gift. What a sweet little face! It was family plaid short day, so we all had on our super cool plaid shorts. Darrell picked out Reagan's outfit.

Chatting with Reagan

Reagan was very talkative this evening.

Exersaucer!

Reagan got a new toy yesterday. He is to the point where the swing only entertains him for a short amount of time and he is really liking to be held in a standing position. So, we got him an Exersaucer that is full of all kinds of fun toys and buttons you can press with lights and sounds. Here is is checking things out.
He has had a better week than last week and has been in alot better mood. He is still chewing on his hand alot and is drooling a ton, but I think I am hoping for a tooth too soon.
Last weekend, I ran the Texas Round Up 10K. The route was completley different than last year and took us on the east side of I-35. It was nice to be able to see a new route. There has been so much new development in that are and it was really neat to see how things have changed.
Ths morning, I ran the Schlotzky's Bun Run 5K. This is the 3rd year I did that on. In 2007, I ran it in 35:42. In 2008, I ran it in 35:00. Today, I ran it in 40:23. Last year when I did it, it was after I had been training for the 2 half marathons and had been running usually 5 times a week since August. I am just going to keep working at it and hopefully be able to get my speed back up.
I have one more 5K that I have scheduled that will be next weekend. That one is the Chuy's Hot To Trot. This is the last race for the Austin Runners Club Spring Sprint Challenge that consisted of 2 10K's and 3 5K's. (I've also thrown my half marathon and today's Bun Run in there.)
I don't have anythin else scheduled for right now. I have my bike tuned up and my bike rack on, so I do have intentions of riding again. I joined Lifetime Fitness this past week and I'd also like get back in the pool over there and do some swimming. I'm not sure I will do a triathlon this year since the swim is still very intimidating to me, but I may look into doing a couple of duathlons. I can handle the running and riding.
