Snow Day in Austin!!!

My office closed at noon today. I was able to go pick Reagan up early and I took him out before we left Mom's to check out the snow. So crazy that Sunday it was a beautiful 77 degrees outside and two days later, we had snow. Gotta love that Texas weather!

Gosh those moods change fast!

Reagan can go from screaming to perfectly fine and vice versa at the drop of a hat here latley. He's having a pretty rough time at night and is waking up screaming quite often. He has several teeth that are all coming in at the same time and his gums are so swollen. I feel so bad for the little guy! He has his 5th tooth that is just starting to show. I bet he wil have at least 4 or 5 more in the next month or so.

All Better and Half Marathon # 5!!

Friday, we had a day full of errands to run, so Darrell and I both took the day off. Reagan had his follow up doctor's appointment. Other than the runny nose that returned last Thursday, she said he is doing fine. He has gained almost a pound in the last two weeks and is now at 19 pounds, 14 ounces.

After the doctor, we headed up to Georgetown to the Social Security office. I thought that we had mis-placed Reagan's SS card or possibly shredded it in the craziness of him being a newborn. Now it's time to file taxes and we need his SS number in order to do that. We had some stuff to do up north, so decided that maybe the SS office in Georgetown would move quicker than the one in Austin. We waited for two hours. Pretty rough trying to keep Reagan calm for that long. We finally got up there and they told us that there had never been one issued in his name, so that made me feel much better that at least it didn't just get thrown away and have the possibility of someone else getting the #. We filled out the paperwork and headed on our way.

We needed to take the CRV back to the Honda dealer because there was a loose piece of trim around the windshield. The dealership is in Round Rock, so we made a quick stop by IKEA and the Outlet Malls before we stopped at the dealership. We have had a changing table downstairs since we have had Reagan and we kept all of his clothes in bins underneath it. His clothes are now too big to fit in the bins and he is too long for the changing table. So, we got a three drawer dresser from IKEA and put his changing pad on top of it. The clothes are all put away and he has alot more room on the dresser.

Saturday, the girls came and got me and we headed down to pick up our packets for the Austin Marathon/Half-Marathon. We wandered around down there and looked at all the fun stuff and then headed back home to drink water and rest our feet for the remainder of the day.

Sunday was race day. I didn't sleep well and woke up at 3. I kept running the course in my head. Since I've been running, I have been on all but about a mile of the course throughout my journeys, so I knew pretty much every bit of the course. I kept hearing Reagan waking up no and them and about 4:15, he was full on screaming, so I went and got him and brought him in our room. He drank lots of water and curled up with Darrell and went right back to sleep. My alarm went off at 4:45 and my friend, Sydney, came to pick me up at 5:20. She has been training for the marathon with Rogue Running, so we parked over at the Rogue store and stretched for a while and then walked a little over half a mile to the start line. I couldn't find my group anywhere.

All season, I've been doing interval training an been running 2 minutes and walking a minute. I started my watch with the intervals when I crossed the start line and started running. The alarm beeped at me when the first two minutes was up and I just kept on running. I told myself I wasn't going to stop until I got all the way up Congress. I got up there and said I wasn't going to stop until I got past Lightsey. I passed Lightsey and still hadn't stopped. I got just past that and had to go to the bathroom. All of the lines at the portapotties were super long. I knew from when I did this race two years ago that those lines meant at least 15 minutes. I kept on running. I got to Oltorf and 1st Street and ran into the Texaco. There were about 6 people in line there. I ran back out and headed down the road. There is a coffee shop on 1st Street called Fair Bean or something like that, so I ran in there was only one other person in line, so I got right in and headed back down the road. I said I wasn't going to stop until I got to Barton Springs. I got there and kept on going and said I was going to try and make it until Austin High. I got to Austin High and kept on moving. At this point, I was at mile 8 and getting pretty tired. I headed up a short steep climb from Ceasar Chavez up to Lake Austin Boulevard and then was kept thinking that I was about to get to the hardest part of the race, not only because it was the last 5 miles, but the last 3 are the toughest because of the hills. At this point, I heard someone calling my name and there was Greg, my coach from Austin Fit!! I asked him where the rest of the group was and he said that he and I were the only two doing this race. I was so glad to see him and he said he was really glad to see me too because he was starting to think about his aches and pains. He had been doing the 2-1 intervals the whole way, so I finished up doing the 2-1's as well. I was so glad to have him to make me keep going and to get me through those hills! I would have had a really hard time doing that on my own. My actual chip time was 2:42:33. This was my best half marathon time yet!! My previous best time on a half was the first one 3M Half Marathon that I did in 2008. That time was 2:44:15 and didn't have hills. I did stop my watch during one when I went to the bathroom and my watch time was about 2:39. I am so excited about my time and am really proud that I was able to run for 8 miles without stopping. I never do that!! I found Darrell and Reagan after I finished the race and they brought me a dozen yellow roses and a huge muffin from Central Market. Such a great Valentine's Day!

Today, I am more sore than I was after the 3M, but it's mostly my thighs that are sore and I know those are from the hills. I'm glad I took the day off. I met my friends Sydney and Karla and their Rogue Marathon girls for breakfast and massages this morning. I loved hearing about their races. All of them had very inspiring stories and I'm so proud of them. I also had two friends from college that finished their first half marathons yesterday. So very proud of them!
