Labor Day Weekend

Big Boy Bed

First Haircut!

How could I have forgotten this important milestone?!? Reagan's hair has taken it's sweet time coming in, but he was starting to get crazy old man hair on the side where it would get really fuzzy. It's not growing much on the top. We decided to take him to get it cut with hopes that it would start to come in quicker and more even. On July 9th, we took him over to Snip Its, which is a kids haircut place over in South Park Meadows. Reagan was awesome during the whole process and sat very, very still like a big boy. Reagan saw a big bottle of baby powder sitting on the counter next to a jar of lollipops. He asked if he could have some and the hair dresser went to hand him a lollipop. He said, "No, I want powder." He of course took the lollipop as well, but we laughed that he requested the powder. For not having much hair, the actually cute quite a bit off! When we left to come back home, Reagan kept repeating in the car,"I got my first haircut. I got my first haircut." Darrell asked him,"How do you feel, Reagan?" Regan replied, "Nice and clean!" So funny!

Here are some pics of his sweet little haircut and I'm glad to report that it is growing in nicely and it won't be long before we get a 2nd haircut!!

It's Been a While....

Wow! Can't even believe that it has been almost three months since my last post!! It has been a very busy and HOT past three months. Things are still going well with our jobs and since the Legislative Session was over back in July, we have finally settled into our new routine.

Reagan is growing growing like crazy, still so skinny, but finally made it on the weight chart at his 2 1/2 year check up that was back in mid-July. He may weigh close to 28 pounds now, if that. He's so smart and we are so amazed at the things that come out of his mouth each day. He has an unbelievable memory for being as young as he is and often talks about things that happened several months ago. He even talks about our trip to Boston that we went on last October! He loves school and is so excited to go every day. He is doing very well with his potty training and within the past few weeks he really seems to be getting the hang of it. He will go on the potty at least 3 or 4 times at school and tells us he has to go most of the time when we are at home. We just need to get him used to going #2 on the potty. He has just a few times, but will generally tell us right after he has gone in his Pull Up. I know it won't be long before he gets it!

About a month ago, we finally put Reagan in a big boy bed. We decided that since we didn't have toddler beds as kids that we would put Reagan straight in a twin bed. We were a little worried about the transition and we have had NO problems with it. In fact, he is so excited to go lay in his big boy bed every night and goes right to sleep. He has slept through the night every night and has not gotten up out of his bed one time since we have put him in it.

We have had a pretty fun summer that has included lots of trips to the pool, a kiddy pool party at our house with our play group, a couple of trips to the zoo, and several trips to Round Rock Express baseball games. We went to the Austin Zoo out towards Dripping Springs about a month ago and last weekend, we went to the Bastrop Zoo. Regan really enjoyed both. He LOVES baseball games. He loves to eat hot dogs, Cracker Jacks, and Dippin' Dots Icecream.

Half Marathon training started a couple of weeks ago and I'm kind of unsure as to what I'm going to do this year. I really want to train and run, but I'm worried about how my knees will hold up after last year and I'm also still working on figure out when to run. At my old job, I had a running buddy that would go with me down to Town Lake Trail and run a 3 mile loop with me two or three times a week and then I could get my long run in on Saturday. I don't have a running buddy at my new job and honestly have done nothing work out wise since I ran Capitol 10K in March. I have started getting up two days a week to meet a friend to work out before we go to work. We have time to get in about half an hour on the treadmill and about 15 minutes worth of ab work. I was pretty sore after the first day since I haven't done anything in so long. I'm really looking forward to the cooler weather and getting up on Saturday mornings to go run again. We will see how my knee is and decide what to do from there. I'd also love to get back on my bike at some point!

My Dad is doing pretty well, all things considering and we just celebrated a year since his initial cancer diagnosis on September 5th. He has held up very well with his chemo and the results of his MRI from last week showed that the tumor is stable again. He will continue with his chemo treatments every couple of weeks. The oncologist said that he really does not have a time frame as to when he will be able to stop the treatments and has indicated that he may have to always be on them. He is still remaining positive and has had very few problems with the chemo, which I was so worried about.

Next post will have some new pictures!
