Christmas 2009

We have had a great Christmas and it has been so much fun to share it with Reagan this year! We opened all of our presents here at home this morning and Reagan payed more attention to his toys then I thought he would! I figured that he was going to go straight for the boxes and paper, but he actually played with his toys. We let him play for quite a while and then fed him breakfast and he took about an hour nap. Once he woke up, we went over to my Mom's for Christmas Dinner. We opened up our presents there and ate an delicious dinner of hen, dressing, green beans, whipped sweet potatoes, and five cup salad. We ate so much and lounged around for a while and then Mom, Reagan, and I headed over to see my oldest niece, Isabel, and her family. Here are some photos from our day.

Reagan Meets Santa

Yesterday evening, Darrell and I took Reagan out to the mall for his first visit with Santa. We waited in line for almost an hour and Reagan was so good. He was just hanging out in his stroller and never got upset or anything. We were somewhat concerned because there was a little boy who was either a year and a half or two years and he threw a kicking screaming fit when he sat on Santa's lap. When it was finally Reagan's turn, I took him over to Santa and let him look at him for a minute before I sat him on his lap. They took several photos, most of which had Reagan looking like a deer in headlights. This was the photo that we decided to get. It looks like they are having a staring contest!

Christmas at the Capitol

Wednesday evening, Reagan, Darrell and I went to the Lieutenant Governor's Staff Holiday Part at the Capitol.

11 Months Old

Here we are...just one month away from one year since we first layed eyes on our sweet little man. We sure do love him!!

We have been so busy the past couple of weeks! Thanksgiving was fun. Darrell's brother, sister-in-law an niece and nephew came to our house for Thanksgiving again this year. I got up and ran Turkey Trot that morning. This is the third year in a row that I have done Turkey Trot. The first year, it was SO cold. I think it was about 28 degrees that year. Last year, it was a different course from the first year I did it because the UT Football game was in town and the route usually goes through the middle of campus and right by the stadium. The course last year was very hilly and I was about a 7 1/2 months pregnant and my sciatica was killing me. I ran the first mile and did good to walk the remaining 4 miles. Last year was in the 70's and very humid. This year, the weather was just amazing. It was in the 50's, sunny, and beautiful. We were back to the original course this year, that was the same one as the first year that I did it. I was very happy to see that my time this year was only one minute and 30 seconds more than the first year I did it. Knowing that I can run at almost the same pace that I did before I got pregnant less than a year after I have had the baby makes me very happy! My time this year for the 5 miles was just over one hour 30 minutes.

I had prepared my part of Thanksgiving dinner the day before. I made two pumpkin pies and a pecan pie and prepared all of the dry ingredients for the dressing. Darrell, our sister-in-law, Lisa, and my Mom finished up the rest of dinner while I was running. I got in from the race, showered, and the feasting began. The food was delicious and Reagan even got a plate with some Thanksgiving goodies as well. After dinner, Reagan and I headed upstairs for a nap. There was too much going on for him to nap and he had missed his normal morning nap, so we slept for a good two hours. Then, it was awake again for round two of the food and watching the UT/ATM football game. Glad the Horns pulled that one out!

Friday, we skipped out on the crazy shopping frenzy. Reagan and I and I enjoyed a nice quiet morning at home because Darrell, his brother, and nephew went and played golf. Lisa, Emily, my mom, and Reagan headed over to a lunch at Hula Hut. Yum!

Saturday, was my little bro's wedding day. They had a very nice ceremony and it was good to see some of my bro's high school buddies and our old family friends. Reagan looked just adorable in tan corduroys, a white button up shirt, and a navy sweater vest. He did really well during the ceremony and didn't make much noise at all.

Sunday, we put up our Christmas tree. We has a skinny little 6 foot prelit tree that we got last year and was a step up from our 4 foot that sat on a table. We ended up putting this one on a table and behind a bench to keep it out of Reagan's reach. He will stand at the bench and look up at it, but can't quite reach it. I have caught him once standing at the bench and swinging his golf club at the tree. Luckily, the tree is just high enough that he can't reach it, even with the club.

I had off Monday and Tuesday as well, so Reagan and I got some good quality time together those two days. I really enjoyed my time off and seeing our family.

Reagan continues to be very inquisitive and into everything. Thanksgiving day, our routine was a little off. We usually put him in his high chair and then feed the beagles. For some reason, we put him on the ground and then fed the beagles. He managed to sneak a couple of pieces of dog food into his mouth. He didn't swallow it, but he did chew on it for a minute before we reclaimed the dog food. He LOVES to hang out near the dishwasher when I am loading it and unloading it. On Friday after Thanksgiving, I was unloading the dishwasher and putting some silverware away. When I turned around, Reagan was crawling on the dishwasher door and had dropped my car keys in the bottom drawer. I took them out and then he cruised over and dropped the keys in the dog water bowl.

His top two teeth are just starting to peak through. He has been a little bit fussier than normal and has been barfing lots, but it still has not been as bad as some of the teething horror stories that I have heard.

We are now gearing up for Christmas and are ready to enjoy the holidays. On a sad note, we did get in a car accident today in our new car. We were sitting still and got rear ended so hard that we were pushed into the car in front of us that was a good two yards ahead. We are ok. Darrell and I are pretty sore. I was sitting in the back seat with Reagan, who was sleeping at the time we were hit. He was startled by the impact, but went right back to sleep. Darrell has already contacted the other driver's insurance company and the adjustor should be contacting us tomorrow. The car was drivable, but there is quite a bit of damage in the front. The back is a little bit messed up, but not nearly as bad as the front. I am very sad my new car got hit, but very thankful that we are not badly hurt.
