Birthday Festivities
Reagan's birthday weekend was a big hit. We got down to San Antonio on Saturday around 11:15. It ended up being a pretty nice day. It was sunny, a little windy, and not too cold....a very nice break from the rainy week that we had last week!
We met at our friend's Max and Amanda's house. When we got there, their little girl, Ella, who is 20 months old, was napping. We hung out with Max and Amanda until Ella woke up. We fed the kids lunch and headed down to the zoo. My friend Tammy met us down there for the zoo fun. I wasn't really sure how long to expect the kids to hang out at the zoo, but we were there 2 1/2 hour, which was quite a bit longer than I thought we would be there. Reagan LOVED the zoo. We started out with him in the stroller, but took him out pretty early on and we all took turns carrying him. He was really entertained with the birds and his favorite things was the fish in the hippo tank. He got really excited and squealed and flapped his arms. It was around 4:30 and we decided to go ahead and head out because Reagan was having a hard time staying awake and we wanted to take a ride on the train that goes though the park that the zoo is in. Reagan was just lounging on the train ride, enjoying just sitting down and snuggling with his Dad.
After we got off the train, we went over to the Barn Door and had some dinner. Reagan fell asleep in the car and was still sleeping when we put him in his high chair. He took a short little snooze and then woke up ready to eat. We gave him some food, but by this time, he and Ella were both pretty tired. We kept taking turns walking around with the kids so they didn't have a meltdown in the restaurant. We finally finished dinner and headed back to Max and Amanda's for cake. It was around 7:30 when we got back to their house and Ella was passed out, so Amanda went ahead and put her to bed. We put Reagan in her high chair and gave him his birthday cupcake. I didn't think he would really eat much of it, but he ended up eating almost half of it. Once again, he flapped his arms and squealed with excitement. We let him chew on it and play with it for a while and then got him cleaned up. Max was playing with him and Reagan barfed some of the cupcake up on himself and Max. After getting that cleaned up, we headed back to Austin.
We got in around 10 or so and bathed Reagan and went straight to bed. We were really surprised with as little sleep as he got that he was in such a great mood all day. He was just the happiest little guy!
Sunday morning, we got up and let Reagan open his presents, which we had not done the day before since we were gone all day. His big present from us was a Little Tikes 3 in 1 Smart Trike. It's super awesome because it's got a handle for us to push him in it now, but as he grows, we can take the handle off and it will be a regular trike. We pushed him around the house in it and then later Sunday afternoon, we took him for a spin around the block. He looks very pleased with himself and moves the handlebars around.
